Paljud räägivad, et on, mainides sealjuures, et Orkut on oma aja ära elanud ning reidistumas. Vähe sellest, kõik kohad on täis tüütuid brasiillasi, kes levitavad kummalist kõnepruuki ning häkivad kontosid oma suva järgi.
Facebooki on aga mitmed n-ö üle kolinud. Seal on kasutajate hulgas palju erinevaid rahvusi ning lihtsam oma välismaiste tuttavatega suhelda. Kindlasti on seal veel palju muid plusse, mida hektel nimetada ei oska, kuna olen isegi suhteliselt lühiaegne kasutaja ega ole viitsinud kõiki Facebooki võimalustega tutvuda.
Nüüd aga kutsutakse üles üht populaarseimat suhtlusportaali boikoteerima. Põhjus on väga lihtne: nad on võtnud endale õiguse teha iga kasutaja infoga, mida heaks arvavad. Seda ka juhul kui kasutaja otsustab Facebookist lahkuda. See tähendab, et kõik mida kasutaja enda kohta on üles laadinud (pildid, videod jmt), kuulub igavesti Facebookile.
Põhimõtteliselt tähendab see seda, et nad võivad võtta näiteks mõne kasutaja fotod, neid kuhugi edasi müüa, ilma et nad piltide omanikult luba peaks küsima. Vähemalt nii väidab The Consumerist. Samas blogis on ka Facebooki poolne vastukaja, mida siinkohal ümberjutustama ei hakka.
Siit moraal inimestele (sealhulgas mulle endale), kes ei viitsi kasutamistingimusi läbi lugeda ning klõpsavad sellistel puhkudel alati automaatselt "I agree". Alati tasuks ikkagi lugeda, millesse end mässitakse. :D
Seda arvan küll, et Facebook ei võta niipea Orkuti kohta üle. Eestlaste seas kindlasti mitte.

Paanika seisneb, nagu ma aru saan selles, et Facebooki TOS ütleb: "You hereby grant Facebook an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, transferable, fully paid, worldwide license (with the right to sublicense) to (a) use, copy, publish, stream, store, retain, publicly perform or display, transmit, scan, reformat, modify, edit, frame, translate, excerpt, adapt, create derivative works and distribute (through multiple tiers), any User Content you (i) /--/"
Nõnda on see olnud alati. Muutunud on see, et enam pole rida "If you choose to remove your User Content, the license granted above will automatically expire, however you acknowledge that the Company may retain archived copies of your User Content." ning ilmunud on "The following sections will survive any termination of your use of the Facebook Service: Prohibited Conduct, User Content, Your Privacy Practices, Gift Credits, Ownership; Proprietary Rights /--/."
Orkuti (googli) TOS ütleb samas "By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive licence to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services." ning "When these Terms come to an end, all of the legal rights, obligations and liabilities that you and Google have benefited from, been subject to (or which have accrued over time whilst the Terms have been in force) or which are expressed to continue indefinitely, shall be unaffected by this cessation, and the provisions of paragraph 20.7 shall continue to apply to such rights, obligations and liabilities indefinitely."

Lõppkokkuvõttes ütlevad kõik sama: meil on õigus postitatud materjali kuvada ja kasutada. Vahel lisavad nad, et "me kustutame teabe, mida soovite kustutada, niipea, kui see on võimalik ja praktiline". Üldiselt ei ole nende punktide taga kurje kavatsusi - leheküljed kaitsevad iseennast naljakate kaebuste ja võimalike kohtuasjade eest. Samal ajal peaksid kõik arvestama, et kui miski internetti (khm. Internetti.) üles panna, jääb see sinna ühel või teisel moel igaveseks.
